Dear Prospective Families:
As many of you know, Sacred Heart has had an outstanding Athletic Program over its 81-year history and continues to do so today. In fact, in the past four years, teams representing The Heart won State Championship titles in three different sports!
At Sacred Heart, boys and girls will encounter a community atmosphere that is committed to helping students become well-rounded, responsible adults. Our former athletes can be found in all walks of life: civic leaders, doctors, bankers, business leaders, teachers, and coaches at levels ranging from youth to professional.
Reaching the top in CIAC and NVL competition, while striving to impart the traits of good sportsmanship, is the goal of Sacred Heart Athletics. The next several years promise to be exciting as many of our younger athletes move into starting positions.
Currently, Sacred Heart offers the following

Over the years, numerous Heart athletes have been recognized as All-State performers in football, baseball, basketball, soccer, and swimming. Many of our teams have won NVL Championships while our successes at the CIAC level include those listed below. Facilities
We are most fortunate to be able to use some of the finest athletic facilities in the city of Waterbury, including the complex at Municipal Stadium. In addition, our newly constructed campus gymnasium, Alumni Hall, is used for our Girls and Boys Basketball teams and Intramural Sports.
We also have a new state of the art Fitness Center at Sacred Heart. Sacred Heart offers weight training and conditioning programs for our student athletes and has an athletic trainer available.
It must be noted that first and foremost, Sacred Heart is an academic institution and our major emphasis is the overall success of each student. All student athletes must be in good academic standing. Any student with academic or disciplinary problems is not allowed to participate in athletics.
Like all CIAC member schools, Sacred Heart does not offer any athletic scholarships or athletic assistance. Financial assistance, in the form of Principal’s Scholarships, Endowed Scholarships and Tuition Assistance Grants, is available to deserving students admitted through the normal admissions and financial aid processes.
