Sacred Heart High School Names Top Students

Jenna Madigan, daughter of Mrs. Kristen and the late Mr. Scott Madigan of Waterbury, has been named Valedictorian and Michael Austin, son of Mrs. Vikki Silva of Waterbury, has been named Salutatorian for the Class of 2018 at Sacred Heart High School, according to Mrs. Eileen M. Regan, President.    During Jenna’s four years at Sacred Heart High School, she has accumulated an impressive record of achievement and community involvement. Jenna is the recipient of the 2018 Superintendent’s Summa Scholar Award and was chosen as a “Class of 2018 Super Senior.” She received the F. Curtis and Susan B. Three Hearts Seniors Recipients of CHET Advance Scholarships

Mrs. Eileen M. Regan, President of Sacred Heart High School, is pleased to announce that Michael Austin, son of Ms. Vikki Silva of Waterbury, Thomas Greene, son of Martin and Patricia Greene of Waterbury, and Broghan Henebery, son of Kevin and Margaret Henebery of Watertown, were recently selected as recipients of the 2017-18 State of CT CHET Advance Scholarship. All three students were awarded a $2,500 scholarship. This annual program is offered by the State Treasurer’s Office to help Connecticut students pay for college. Two hundred students in CT were awarded this year. The aim of the CHET Advance Scholarship Program is to encourage students and their families to save for college expenses, as well as to help ease the financial burdens faced by prospective college students. Hearts Junior Siobhan Gilmore Recognized by the VFW

Mrs. Eileen M. Regan, President of Sacred Heart High School, is pleased to announce that Siobhan Gilmore, a junior and the daughter of Brian and Jill Gilmore of Waterbury, was recently recognized by the VFW Post 201 “Voice of Democracy” essay contest. High school students from the Greater Waterbury area were given the topic, “American History – Our Hope for the Future.” Siobhan noted, “The triumphs and mistakes that were made in the past have shaped us to who we are in the present.” Shown in photo at the recent awards reception sponsored by the Ladies Auxiliary and VFW Post 201 are Siobhan, along with Past Commander Pat and Betty Fries.
