Mrs. Eileen M. Regan, President of Sacred Heart High School, is pleased to announce that Michael Austin, son of Ms. Vikki Silva of Waterbury, Thomas Greene, son of Martin and Patricia Greene of Waterbury, and Broghan Henebery, son of Kevin and Margaret Henebery of Watertown, were recently selected as recipients of the 2017-18 State of CT CHET Advance Scholarship. All three students were awarded a $2,500 scholarship. This annual program is offered by the State Treasurer’s Office to help Connecticut students pay for college. Two hundred students in CT were awarded this year.
The aim of the CHET Advance Scholarship Program is to encourage students and their families to save for college expenses, as well as to help ease the financial burdens faced by prospective college students. This year, CHET Advance awarded up to $500,000.00. The scholarship program is open to high school seniors and high school freshmen.
Michael, Thomas, and Broghan were recently recognized by State Treasurer Denise L. Nappier at a ceremony held in the Legislative Office Building in Hartford.
